Congrats to Spain on Winning EURO 2012
Congratulations go out to Spain for winning, and defending, the EURO championship. We all witnessed history today as they have won three back to back international tournaments: EURO 2008, World Cup 2010 and EURO 2012.
The first half was all Spain as they scored two goals against the Italian defense. But it must be said that the loss of Giorgio Chiellini was a major set back to the Italian defense. But none the less, they kept playing and tested Iker Casillas a few times but the Spanish keeper denied Italy every time.
The second half started with the Italians putting pressure on the Spanish defense but again, Spain managed to survive. Injury struck Italy again as Thiago Motta was stretchered off shortly after coming on leaving Italy to play the remainder of the second half with 10 men.
The man advantage would eventually prove to be too much for Italy as Fernando Torres and his Chelsea teammate Juan Mata both scored to make the score Spain 4 – 0 Italy.
I was quite disappointed that Italy did not win the championship but there is always EURO 2016. So once again, congratulations to Spain for winning EURO 2012 and hopefully Italy will win the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
