I’ve noticed that I get A LOT of spam from my comment forms. After a month of constantly deleting viagra ads and celebrity porn videos I have decided to take a stand. NO MORE SPAM!!

On the WordPress Codex site, there is a post entitled Combating Comment Spam/Denying Access (which has the same title as this post) which help you to block comment spam.

I had a look at this post and found it rather interesting and as a result, I made use of the suggestions. I must admit that I am also utilizing Askimet on my site as well and the combination of the two have virtually eliminated spam coming from my comment forms.

I particularly like the bit about Deny Access to No Referrer Requests which I used on a site at work which was plagued with spam.

Spam is VERY annoying, more annoying that a nagging supervisor who has problems at home and passes them on you, but with the help of the Combating Comment Spam/Denying Access post and Askimet you should experience much less spam originating from your comment forms. Relief!! Having reduced levels of spam is just like having that annoying supervisor suddenly get sucked into a black hole never to return.
